The next morning as we were getting around Jim and discussed the pros and cons of renting a car. We hadn’t come to a decision but ordered a Lyft to take us to Bradley Intentional Airport to check out our options and get coffee since our hotel lacked that basic necessity. We both needed a good cup of coffee. Granny got coffee, pastries and corn muffins. You see today is Jim’s 74th birthday,

Jim checked out car rental prices. When we got back together, Jim told me that rental prices were prohibitive. However, we could take a free bus to Hartford which we did. Arriving at the bus station, we grabbed a taxi to go to the Hartford Library.

The library was huge and massive. At first I found it confusing. We both decided to get on the computer and check our emails. Jim did work while Granny played more. She was reading the latest blogs on Daily Kos. Walking outside we found it was too warm to walk, we grabbed a Lyft to go to Blue State Coffee at 777 Main Street. We loved the ambiance of the shop. It saddens me to read they are out of business as January 1, 2023.

We then grabbed a Lyft up to Dunkin Donuts Park to buy tickets to the Hartford Yard Goats game this evening. The Goats were playing the Binghamton Rumble Ponies. I driver wanted to wait for us, but I shook my head saying that Jim and I would explore the area. I remember that there was a Hilton hotel not too far from the stadium. It was an easy walk to the stadium. They had a restaurant inside the hotel M & M Bistro, which didn’t open until 5pm

As we were sitting in front of the restaurant when we noticed a woman, sitting with a group of ladies in the lobby. I am letting Jim pick up the story. This attractive woman was blindfolded. Since I was having eye surgery shortly after returning home from our trip, my first thought was some medical condition which required her to be able to see.

However, that turned out not to be the case. I asked this attractive woman with a blindfold what was the reason for it. Her explanation was great. Apparently, she was a bride to be and this was her bridal shower. I noted that many people meet their future spouse on a blind date, so was she planning a blind marriage? As it turned out, she was blindfolded for a surprise to come later. That made sense, but the blind marriage seemed more intriguing.

Granny is back. I explained to Jim that this was a surprise Bachelorette party/weekend. M & M Bistro opened but I wasn’t impressed. The food was mediocre, warmed up and had very little flavor. At least the wine was good. After we finished our meals, we walked back to Dunkin Donuts Park.

The game and the atmosphere were fantastic. The Yard Goats really play on the Goat theme. The ushers are Goat herders. Children were baby goats in the baby goat race. Granny likes games that score a lot of runs and home. The game itself was not competitive, but a ton of fun. After the game we arranged for Lyft to take us back to our hotel.

Friday morning, we took a Lyft to Springfield, Massachusetts. We stopped at diner and had a wonderful breakfast. Jim and I signed a receipt stating we were from Toledo, Ohio to go along with other patrons who signed where they were from. After spending 3 hours at Union Station, we boarded are train home to Toledo. The train was long, slow and laborious. We didn’t arrive home until 9am Saturday morning. When we got home, we found there was no water, but that is a blog for another time.
